We believe that knowing where your products come from matters just as much as knowing what's in them.
At The Hobbystead, we take a thoughtful approach to sourcing the ingredients, materials, and products we offer. Whenever practical, we prioritize supporting our own farm, local businesses, Wisconsin suppliers, and American-made products.
We also recognize that not every ingredient or material can be sourced close to home. When looking beyond our local communities, we seek suppliers that align with our commitment to quality, responsible sourcing, and product safety.
Our sourcing approach follows four priorities:
1. Our Farm: Homegrown with Purpose
Our first priority is right here at The Hobbystead. As our farm continues to grow, we look for opportunities to incorporate resources from our own land and agricultural activities into the products and experiences we offer.
We believe in making the most of what we have, reducing unnecessary waste, and creating meaningful connections between the farm and the finished product.
2. Wisconsin Businesses: Supporting Our Neighbors
We're proud to call Wisconsin home, and we believe in supporting the businesses and communities around us.
Whenever possible, we look to Wisconsin-based farmers, makers, manufacturers, and suppliers for ingredients, materials, packaging, and other business needs.
Supporting local businesses helps strengthen our communities, build relationships, and keep more opportunities close to home.
3. USA-Made: Supporting American Businesses
When local sourcing isn't available or practical, our next priority is finding quality products and materials made in the United States.
We value American craftsmanship, manufacturing, and the businesses that help bring quality goods to market.
Choosing American-made options when possible is another way we work toward responsible sourcing while supporting businesses across the country.
4. Other Trusted Sources: Quality Without Compromise
Some ingredients, essential oils, materials, and specialty products may not be readily available from our farm, within Wisconsin, or from American manufacturers.
When sourcing from other regions or international suppliers, we focus on product quality, ingredient information, supplier transparency, and suitability for their intended use.
Our goal isn't to claim that everything comes from one place. It's to make thoughtful decisions about what we bring into our home, use in our products, and offer to yours.
